The design of this project includes a full commercial kitchen and dining area, which seats 170. Also incorporated into the design is a gymnasium space with competition basketball and volleyball courts and telescopic seating for 330. In conjunction with this large assembly space a stage has been provided with dressing and wardrobe areas for both men and women as well as backstage access to restroom facilities. Additionally, the structure includes men's and women's locker rooms, coach's office, laundry facilities, large storage spaces and restrooms. Other important features of the design are the three classrooms with private restrooms and associated storage spaces for expansion of the School and a 1,450 s.f. area assigned for youth fellowship. The arrangement of the major elements of the building allow independent or co-mingled usage of the kitchen and dining areas; the school classrooms; the gymnasium and stage. The design was specifically tailored to fit within a constrained area encapsulated by other buildings on the east and west and athletic fields on the north. The southern facade of the proposed building fully complies with the Community Design Standards of the City of DeLand. Serious considerations have been made to develop this structure in a manner which is very cost conscious, functional and aesthetically pleasing. This is continuing in the development phase and is anticipated to be completed in mid 2016.
